Why Dan Gilbert Should Be Embarrassed

The Miami Heat won the NBA Finals over the Oklahoma City Thunder, 121-106. LeBron James, the Finals MVP, scored 26 points along with 11 rebounds and 13 assists. James became the eighth player in NBA history with three or more MVP awards and a title. James said after the game, "This right here, is the happiest day of my life." James also became the fifth player with a triple-double in a title-clinching game, and the first since Tim Duncan of the Spurs did this in 2003. Magic Johnson did this twice, and Larry Bird did this once.

Hey Dan Gilbert, how'd your plan of winning a championship before LeBron James working out?  You had the chance for seven years, but you surrounded him with players like Larry Hughes and Mo Williams. LeBron James is now successful because he is now surrounded by superstars, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.   Michael Jordan did not win any titles in his first seven years because it wasn't because he didn't have the talent. There wasn't any depth on the roster to help him out. When Phil Jackson took over as head coach in 1989, and when the Bulls acquired Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman, Jordan was able to win championships- 6 to be exact for his career.

You can't win a title alone in the NBA. That's why Carmelo Anthony needs more than Amare Stoudemire in New York. Don't get me wrong. Amare is in my top five for rebounding machines and I would take him over half of the big men in the league. Jeremy Lin will get better over time, especially now under the guidance of the great Jason Kidd. See, the Knicks have a lot of pieces, like Steve Novak, Tyson Chandler, and Marcus Camby. Hopefully, Mike Woodson will be able to fit these pieces of the puzzle together to create a masterpiece and bring home a title to New York. The Knicks are in the top five in the East, in my opinion.

I think that we should also be praising Dwayne Wade as much as we are praising LeBron James. Wade realized that LeBron is the greatest player of our generation and to back off a little and let LeBron lead this team to the title. Wade told Oprah Winfrey in an interview with the Big 3 that they wouldn't have been able to join together early in their career because they were trying to make a name for themselves and wanted to be the faces of their franchises.

The Cavaliers and Dan Gilbert have a bright future in Kyrie Irving, but unless they don't give him help and try to urge other superstars, he might pull a LeBron, or in this case, a Kyrie.
